My name is Amy Hesketh. I am originally from Lancashire, England and have lived in Cologne since August 2010. I joined Cologne Bumblebees in September 2010 and work in the Caterpillar Group with the under threes. I especially enjoy doing arts, crafts and music projects with the children. Alongside my full time position at the Kindergarten, I have completed an MA degree in Early Childhood Education at the University of Sheffield. During my studies, I focused predominantly on children from birth to three and became especially interested in attachment theory, the role of relationships in learning, listening to children and children’s participation in their learning environment. It is important to me to make the group environment friendly and homely for the children and parents, and to respect and nurture each child’s individual needs and preferences.
